Pride and Thanks

Someone recently asked me what accomplishment I am most proud of in my life.  After some introspection, I have to say (besides the obvious answer of being a mom and having healthy, happy kids) that I am most proud of starting a business on my own and being able to maintain it despite a bad economy and being Mom to two kids.

In some ways, my office was my first baby.  When I opened it, I was up to my eyeballs (haha... inside joke)  in student debt.  I was single, poor, and young.  I poured my hopes and dreams into bringing my business to life.  I drafted a business proposal, searched high and low to get a business loan.   Put sweat, tears, and heart into making it grow and stand on its own legs.  Even now, I am surprised I was bold enough to take such a risk.

It has been a challenge, and I am not a huge financial success by any standard.  But I can honestly say that I love my job.  In fact, it was a really difficult for me to cut down my hours to part time when the Hubs and I decided to start a family.

Anyhow, this past month I made my last loan payment.  I feel like the occasion deserved mention.  It took me ten years, but I am proud to say I have paid off my business loan.

One last thing.  I really believe everyone just needs to have one person in their life that believes in them.  You'd be surprised what amazing things you can do in life if you have that kind of support.  For me, that person is my Big Sis.  I would not have dared to open my own business if I had not had her cheering for me on the sidelines, giving me rational and practical advice.  So for that, Big Sis, I thank you.
